WA - What a Coastline!

coral bay

From Hearson’s Bay I have made my way to Manilya for the night, hosted by a lovely free camp just after the small service station. Tonight showed Roger the first lot of rain this trip, and he didn’t leak. The rain only took 32 days. The only reason I knew which day it was is because my mate Liam asked me today what day I was on and I had no idea. He seemed pretty disappointed so I thought I’d better figure it out. I had crossed the Tropic of Capricorn, after taking a series of butt shots in the middle of no where along the way, only to cross it again the next day to get to Coral Bay.

Ningaloo reef

Coral Bay and the Ningaloo Reef was stunning. The water couldn’t be any clearer and the reef was full of Marine Life. I did a boat tour and it didn’t take long before we saw a Turtle. This turtle must have been at least 70cm in width. They anchored at two snorkel spots and we jumped in. We saw Travally, Barracuda, and Reef Sharks. Between snorkel locations we were able to jump on the boom net as the boat was moving. I was sitting beside a mother and her 8 year old son. The Mother said to her boy, ‘water is a bit cold isn’t it?’ He replied, ‘Yeah, but I just did a wee so I feel a bit warmer.’ I thought it was hilarious. Too honest and too cute.

After this excitement I made my way though Exmouth and to Yardie Creed Homestead. It baffles me that the loveliest parks with the most stunning back drops can be so damn cheap, and the dirtiest, uncared for roadhouses on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere can be deer as hell. Yardie Creek sits between the North West Cape, and the Peninsula beside Exmouth and offers stunning sunsets over the water this time of year. I was lucky enough to witness one. On my way back the next day I stopped by Vlamingh Head Precinct where there is lookout that sees over the entire coastline. Far out in the ocean I was able to see whales breaching.

IMG_3781.JPG

I crossed back over the Tropic of Capricorn and couldn’t help myself with seeing Coral Bay one more time. I made a video for FNQ Magazine with the bay in the background, a perfect backdrop in my opinion. I found a spot to camp a few hours after this, made a fire and cooked my dinner over the coals, something I much prefer to do out here rather than using the gas in the van; feels more authentic. After a shower out the back and a full belly of dinner, I was out like a light.

This morning I woke up to my next adventure. And what an adventure it was. I almost didn’t take the road to Shark Bay because I was so eager to get to Perth to try and get some gigs for this tour. 130kms, and had it been any more than that and I probably would have turned back. This is one to return to for sure. Only a short drive in and you hit Shell Beach. The salt in the water is twice as strong as normal salt water due to a few differing factors. I had a dip here and I still have salt residue all over my skin. Onto Shark Bay and I had some brekky while overlooking the water. Not far from Shark Bay is Little Lagoon and a further 30kms sits Monkey Mia. No photos of any of the places above do them justice. You have to see them with your own eyes. I found a little sand bank island at Monkey Mia and stayed there for about an hour. I had a swim with some hermit crabs and took about 200 selifes. I passed goats, emus, cows and kangaroos. When I lived in Queenstown the danger on the road was tourists and black ice. Here the danger is most certainly wandering animals. You absolutely have to keep your wits about you.

Remember guys, I am a specialist when it comes to hens parties and bachelorette parties. If you know anyone who is organising a hens party or bachelorette party in Australia over the next few months get the to head to contact me. Queenstown is still operating as normal. I have decided to stay in Perth for few extra dates - (18th, 19th and 20th October). Help spread the word and make a booking! All proceeds from this Australia tour are going to Melanoma Institute Australia.

Broome & Making my Way down south

Broome was a lovely wee place. Quite hot as expected as its currently in the build up to the Wet Season, however the days were gorgeous. Upon my arrival, the lady at reception told me I had to check out Staircase to the Moon that was expected to rise at 6:52 that evening. I had heard about this from a good friend and was told that if I missed it I was a bloody moron. Down at Town Beach the markets were bustling and I thought to myself, ‘hows the serenity?’ I believe this Australian tour has made me even more Strayan. I witnessed this from the end of the rock jetty where tourists and locals were tripping over rocks trying to find their way with their iPhone lights, young cool hipsters were lighting incense and strumming low to below average guitar skills, and kids were constantly asking their parents when the moon would come up. Still, aside from all this, the moon rising was absolutely incredible. It truely did look like a stairway to the moon, but photos just don’t do it justice.

cable beach Broome

The next day I made my way to Cable Beach for a swim. The beaches around here are so stunning, and relatively untouched. Upon sunset I returned to Cable Beach to watch the sunset and see the camels. Sunsets like nothing you’ve ever seen before, just beautiful. While here in Broome I found a really great gym, Natural Edge, where I met some awesome people and managed a few workouts over the few days I was here. I even managed to convince a dude by the name of Dan to get his skin checked. He understood the importance of these checks, but like a lot of Australians and Kiwis, had let it slip under the radar for some time.

Before leaving this beautiful place I also stopped by Gantheaune Point. The water is so clear and the sand so white, but still not really that safe to go for a dip. I had received a message from my mate Steve in Darwin. His family and I had popped down to Berry Springs for a swim and just days after a 3.5m croc was spotted in the swimming spot, hence the springs were closed for a period. No words, just the headline: ‘Croc spotted near popular NT swimming spot, Berry Springs now closed’ - love it.

So currently on Warla Way I have passed through Port Hedland where I had a quick drive through the city and stopped by the coastline. I found a sign to a ‘Clothing Optional’ beach which I found quite funny. I didn’t venture down there but I still thought it was worth a mention. Nice to know there are people just like me who like to nude up in a place like Port Hedland. I am currently visiting Karatha after a night of camping at Yale River, a free camp spot on the road between Port Hedland and Karatha. After sunset I was able to light a fire and cook my dinner over the ashes. You can’t beat it. I woke up early and carried onto Hearson’s Cove. I sat here, had some morning tea and took a walk along the beach. Such a lovely peaceful beach. Its low tide so instead of going for a swim I’m writing this blog.

So onto my next destination: Coral Bay. Don’t forget to tell all of your mates in Perth that I am extremely close to arriving. If they know of anyone who is planning a hens night or a ladies night, please get them to contact me! Its so important to get the message out there to get your skin checked, and I want to raise as much money through these male stripping gigs as possible for the Melanoma Institute Australia

Nitmiluk & Over into WA

So the start of the week saw me back in Darwin for a few days which was fantastic because it meant some extra time with my good old friend Steph. On Thursday we went to Mindil Markets where we would eat way to much food and see another old friend Col, and his lovely partner Ange. We watched the sunset and reminisced about old times, in particular about a hilarious incident in Lagos that need not be mentioned on this site. Later on in the week we checked out Berry Sprigs and the WW2 oil tunnels. We had another spot of fishing in Shoal Bay, where Steph caught a Salmon, Steve a Barra and me… a small cat fish. For my last night in town we met up with some of their mates down at the ski club on Darwins coastline, then took to the wharf for a meal. When we arrived we noticed a boat with pride flags draping from it. Curious as to what this was we started asking questions. A rather Fairy God Mother looking lady on the boat clarified with us that it was Darwin Pride, that this was the Boat Party event and that we should definitely get tickets. 15 Minutes later we had tickets. What an awesome excuse to have a random night out with a friend from way back when. We had such a great time. The party was hosted by drag queens which were absolutely hilarious.

butterfly gorge

With a slightly sore head and a later time of departure, I took off for Nitmiluk National Park the following morning and arrived with just enough time to hike Butterfly Gorge. This was an eye opener. The track for the most part was excellent. It wasn’t until I hit the last 500m that the track really became narrow and more of a bush bash. I was alone and no other walkers were anywhere to be seen. Every little sound of a crack in the dry leaves around me made me jump as I thought it could be a snake. It wasn’t until I saw a snake that I realised snakes don’t make much sound at all; they slither away very quickly. So with what I thought was roughly 400m to go, I see another snake. I very masculinely let out a high pitched squeal and think to myself, ‘do I turn around?’ I’d been told by a few people how stunning it is when you arrive so I was eager to push on. As terrified as I was of standing on a snake I wanted to reach the end. I am so glad I did. Its so untouched and so damn beautiful. After taking it in I ventured back through the narrow track where I would see another two snakes along the way. None of which I was prepared for, and none caused me to fall silent about the matter. I intently stared at the track floor and thankfully didn’t bother any snakes enough to want to bite me.

Katherine gorge

From Explorers Way and back onto Savannah Way I took off to King River West rest stop on the way to Kununurra. I arrived in the dark and decided this was a great spot for a overnighter. It wasn’t until the morning that I realised I had parked in sand just a bit too soft for Roger. Roger is the Van as his number plate includes RDA. I was bogged and not moving an inch. With a sheepish look on my face I went looking for some help. Thankfully a family with a couple of 4WDs were close by and got me out of a hairy situation pretty quick. Cheers guys.

With Roger free I was able to kick on to Lake Argyle, have a swim in the infinity pool and venture on to Kununurra. We checked out the dried up salt lakes in Wydnham, watched the sunset over Cambridge Gulf before retreating to Parry’s Creek Farmhouse for the night. The following morning was an early one as I was eager to see the gorgeous landscapes of the Kimberley Region, something I have really been looking forward to. The landscapes are rugged, dramatic and beautiful. Seeing these sights only confirm that a return is necessary with a 4WD.

Broome is a short 160kms from where I landed in Willare this evening. With a large number of stock on the road, and a massive 900kms travelled today, it is time for me to hit the sack. I’m so excited for my West Coast portion of this tour.

After leaving Mataranka I boosted it to Darwin to catch up with my old mate Steph, her lovely husband Steve and their amazing daughter Layla. I arrived and it was like no time had passed whatsoever. Its been seven years since I’d caught up with Steph in person, so we had a lot to talk about. Within a few minutes I had vowed to never let as much time pass again between visits. When I walked inside they had a note to get Steve’s skin checked on the wall, he had a doctors appointment booked for the following day. I was so stoked. As much as I want to raise a ton of money for the Melanoma Institute Australia through these male stripping gigs on this tour, its also just as imperative to get the message out there of how important it is to get your skin checked regularly. I was so happy to see the message really starting to work.

The next day Steve took me out on the hovercraft in Shoal Bay. It was a wicked experience. We went looking for some live bait to go Barramundi fishing. We had a few attempts that didn’t find us what we wanted so we carried on looking. We had ventured pretty far out into the bay at low tide. Up here there are 8m tides, and when the tide is low, it is a massive open space of mud flats.  When the tide comes in, it comes in fast so you really don’t want to get stuck out there. There is the possibility of crocs as well, however the chances of getting in trouble are very slim, and I was with someone who grew up in these parts. I hadn’t been in a situation like this before so you could imagine I was looking over my shoulder ever few seconds.  What happened next? Our hovercraft broke down. No matter how much Steve tried to jimmy the engine, she wasn’t going to start. I actually found it quite fun. We knew we had a boat on the way to come get us but they had to wait for the tide to start coming in in order to retrieve us. We flung the lines out to see if we could catch anything. There were nibbles but unfortunately no Barra for dinner. The tide started to come in thick and fast. It was amazing to see. I had always wondered what it would be like to try and outrun a tide, having heard stories from my father over the years of how dangerous they can be. We eventually were hauled back by a passing fisherman. We didn’t have far to go to get to mangroves that would keep us safe, but a dingy came to the rescue instead. When I hopped in the hovercraft a big fish jumped next to me and I nearly shit my pants. We got home, jumped in the pool and had some great dinner watching the honey badger on the bachelor. Absolutely amazing day.

croc cove Darwin

Today - booked in to go for a swim with some crocodiles. Not kidding. Croc Cove in Darwin has the facilities for you to swim with the crocs inside an enclosed clear cage. We had the honours of having a double date with William & Kate - the royal croc couple. Short of being eaten by a croc, I doubt you could get up any more close and personal. They even went as far as to feed the crocs within millimetres of your head, obviously safe behind an extremely thick clear barrier, however still an incredible thrilling experience.

From here we hit the road out to Kakadu. where we would camp for the night in Jabiru. We checked out some Aboriginal rock art at Ubirr, said g’day to a few more crocs at Cahill’s Crossing (although we stayed clear of the rivers edge) and then treated ourselves to a bistro meal at the famous Croc Pub in town.

The next day we explored some more Aboriginal rock art at Nourlangie, and after a bumpy 40km drive out on a ‘2 Wheel Drive Track,’ we arrived at our final destination of the evening; Gunlom - home of the gorgeous Gunlom Falls. We parked up, slapped on some sunscreen and wasted no time in getting up to the falls. We didn’t think there would be much water to see as the time in the season wasn’t on our side, however we were quite surprised to see ample water up there, enough to go for a decent swim. We found numerous spots to chill out in in the water, and decided pretty quickly that this would be a perfect spot to end a great day watching the sun go down. As the sun was going down some mates of Matt yelled out and so we had some extra camping buddies for the evening. Small world. Over the fire the topic of my tour came up and I think we managed to get a couple of the blokes to go in for their skin check. We spoke about the importance and relevance of skin checks and melanoma cancer in Australia today - I hope Brychen & Josh go in for their check soon. The idea of my tour entertained them, and even sprung an idea to do a gig for the ladies in Daylesford when I eventually hit Victoria. Lets make this happen!

male stripper Australia tour melanoma awareness

We said goodbye in the morning and hit the road to Mataranka, where I caught up with the locals, having only been gone for a week or so. There’s no real question about what beer you drink up here, Great Northern all the way. Next on our to do list was Litchfield National Park where we managed to see Florence Falls and Buley’s Rock Hole; both incredible swimming spots and not far from the main road. Again we were surprised to see the waterfalls still flowing with ample water given the time of year. The water was clear, refreshing and teeming with fish.

So back in Darwin now where the next part of the tour continues. I will be staying in Darwin for the next few nights in case any gigs pop up to help generate some more fundraising for MIA. Next destination on the list is Kununurra, from which I will be driving down Australia’s West Coast. My next gigging destination will be Perth - so ladies, if you know anyone who is planning or hosting a hens party in Perth over the next few weeks, please let them know about this tour.

The Isa & The Territory

IMG_2191.jpg

The start of this week saw me staying at a lovely wee spot just out of Normanton called Flinders River, otherwise known as Wanderers Walk, as a fellow told me in Normanton. The rivers full of crocs, mostly freshwater, but the odd salt water croc shows up. Needless to say I kept away from the edge and said no to a swim. The evening was bliss. I very carefully collected some firewood, keeping an eye out for snakes, started a fire before sunset and cooked my dinner over the flames. I had one cheeky beer in the fridge and decided it was a good enough time to crack it. The sun came down and provided a stunning backdrop over the outback. Birds and kangaroos were everywhere. I just sat back and watched the view, hoping to catch a glimpse of a croc. Unfortunately I didn’t see any, but then again I do have man eyes and I was probably staring right at one.

IMG_2195.jpg
IMG_2190.jpg

Earlier in the day I ventured across to Karumba. Karumba is the only town along the southern Gulf of Carpentaria that is within sight of the Gulf itself. Being only 70kms from Normanton where the road splits off from to Savannah Way to Matilda Way, I couldn’t resist the short drive to see the shore. I knew it wasn’t a beach you’d really want to go for a relaxing dip in, as its known to have crocs a plenty. Still, it was well worth the drive.

IMG_2189.JPG

From A1 to State Highway 83 and then onto A2, here I am in Mt Isa, or as they call it, The Isa. I was shocked to see just how big this place is. I decided it was time I had a shower that wasn’t out of the back of my van, and a kitchen that wasn’t 50cm2. So here I stayed for 2 days to catch up on social media posts, contact various media outlets and try and get some exposure for this tour! No Snap Fitness in Mount Isa, but I did pass an Anytime Fitness, who were nice enough to let me use their facilities for 2 days while I recoup. Thank you guys for the kind gesture. I really appreciate it.

I ventured on up to Telstra Hill on my last evening in Mount Isa, for a view of the sunset. As you can see it was stunning. There was hardly anyone around, and from all angles was desert. Perfect backdrop for some butt shots. After my short hike I spent the evening in the camp kitchen with a couple from France and an Irish guy named Mike. We swapped stories, camp spot advice and talked about outback driving etiquette - something I absolutely have to support with a video tutorial one day soon. Obviously out here there are long hauls with hundreds of kilometres of nothing in between, and you have to find ways to entertain yourself. I was telling them how I found it rude when people wouldn’t wave back. Now Mike had a hell of a lot more experience driving these roads than what I have and he told me he had started flashing his lights instead of waving because he had become lazy. In addition, if the person he flashed his lights at didn’t wave back, he tooted them. I found this quite entertaining, and so I obviously started doing the same thing right away. I giggle every time. Cheers Mike for the little recommendation that helps get through the big drives.

From here I ventured over into the Northern Territory. Its amazing how your surroundings change so dramatically in such a short space of time. I stayed just outside of Three Ways for the night and then carried on to Mataranka the following day. Australia’s outback really is quite special. Its wide open spaces gives you a sense of relaxation. You can’t help but feel consumed by nature, and its ability to sustain such teeming wildlife.

Mataranka was amazing. The thermal springs were something not to be missed. Mataranka is a small town south of Darwin that’s home to Bitter Springs, Mataranka Springs and Elsey National Park. There are a number of scenic locations on offer, but never enough time to squeeze them all in. Bitter Springs was somewhat more natural than Mataranka, as it was relatively untouched and still supports a very small amount of aquatic life. Under the water's surface life struggles with raging currents in the wet season and warm, nutrient-rich water that is low in oxygen through the dry season. The nutrient rich springs support plenty of algae, which drifts to the surface and collects in rotting mats where insects thrive and become food for birds, lizards and other small animals. Sunlight shining through clear, nutrient-rich, warm water provides perfect conditions for plants and algae to grow. I found these springs and their surrounds quite fascinating.

IMG_3088.JPG

On my first night in Mataranka I camped at Julmurark Campground in Elsey National Park where I met two awesome girls from ‘The Territory,’ - Claire & Leanne. I was in such need of human interaction, that I basically gave them no choice but to hang out with me for the evening. I parked up and instantly walked over to have a yarn. They were camping for the evening for a catch up and I totally crashed their party. Sorry girls! We cooked together, ate together, then talked the night away, agreeing that this was better than any Saturday night in the city. We are so lucky that our country offers us such beautiful escapes that we can enjoy at no cost. I told them about my story of stripping my way around Australia for Melanoma Awareness and they agreed to get their skin checked and help spread the word. Such a great night with you ladies, I feel very blessed to have met you both. The following morning we went for a dip at Bitter Spring and we parted ways. Later on I caught up with the Cosgrove Family - Vicki, Darren, Jay Jay & Ella; some great friends from the Gold Coast. We had a beer at Mataranka Homestead and then I took them into the awesome campground from the previous night where we set up camp and enjoyed a couple of wines. In our time here we explored the springs and even went on a bike ride to Mataranka Falls. The Nights were spent talking about life by the campfire, making funny videos, and really just enjoying one another’s company.

First Week on Tour

male stripper Australia melanoma tour

What a long and exiting week of driving. Today marks 1 week since my departure from my hometown of the Gold Coast. There is so much to see and do in beautiful Queensland, and not enough time to do it in. I am currently on night number 6, in a gorgeous donation camp just outside of Georgetown called Cumberland Chimney Historic Sight. Upon my trek here from Karunda, I passed numerous wandering cows, a ton of kangaroos and even two startled emus. Needless to say I have definitely given up on driving after the sun goes down as its far too dangerous. The scenes of this trip took a big turn today venturing west from Cairns. The sunsets out here are stunning, and I know its only going to get better. But before I talk about where I am headed, let me recap on where I’ve been over the last few days.

male stripper Australia tour melanoma

After my stay with Alain & Hannah, I boosted it to Clairview, eager to get as far north as possible to really get this trip underway. Clairview is a spot I remembered from a much younger time, having been taken here by my parents when I was only a fresh teenager. I arrived very late, woke up early, had a quick look around the beach and ventured back on the road. I stopped in various parks along the way to Airlie Beach, even popped into Mackay for a gym session. I arrived at Airlie beach a couple of hours before sunset and decided to sit on the beach and have a couple of peanut butter sandwiches. It was bliss. I wanted to head up to the pub for a beer but decided against it. I wanted to see the sunset up by Horseshoe Bay, and I am so glad I did, as the scenes were much sweeter than a beer on a hot day. The sun was setting on the beach beside Horseshoe Bay, and the pictures just don’t do it justice. Absolutely gorgeous.

I used my hot shower from the Van for the first night in Bowen, before trying my best to find a free place to sleep. I thought to myself, surely they’ll let me sleep at the truck stop if I fill up my Van. I asked the lady behind the counter and she instantly said ‘No.’ I must have looked devastated because she looked as though she immediately felt guilty. I milked it, turned on the charm and she changed her mind. ‘Just park up by the tanks and stay out of the way of the trucks.’ I did a fist pump in my mind. Apart from the loud backpackers over the fence, it was a pleasant stay, but really, beggars can’t be choosers so I wasn’t complaining.

male stripper melanoma Australia tour

I spent the next morning from 7am at Horseshoe Bay. I didn’t leave until 11am, it was just too perfect. I shot off to the gym in Townsville before trying to get as close to Cairns as possible. Before finding a place to stay I stopped in at a short walk in a National Park I can’t remember the name of between Townsillve & Gunnadunga. It was here I met two turtles that I appropriately named Turkey & Flamingo. I made it to Hotel Gunnadunga where, if you purchased a meal and a beer, you could park out back. Sounded good to me, although I really didn’t want to drink. The beer went down well though. Lets just say there were some odd creatures at this hotel. The owner was a legend, and you could tell he was just putting up with these patrons as they were the only ones buying grog.

After this interesting night I headed to Cairns and arrived fairly early. It was here I caught up with a mate of my friend Logan, Jay. I think I sat at his cafe for about 5 hours updating Queenstown bookings, website info and ads for this campaign. 2 coffees and a belly full of lunch, I drove to Trinity Beach for a dip and a walk. The water was extremely warm! Thanks Jay for the hospitality!

male stripper australia tour melanoma

I parked up by Karunda that evening, and in the morning I enjoyed the Barron Falls walk. It was gorgeous. I jumped the fence to try and get some unobstructed butt shots with the waterfall in the background, and found an old track that lead down to the old hydro power station. I managed some epic shots of the waterfall from this track, and even some good butt shots. That leads me to Georgetown where on the way I stopped in at Dinner Falls, and a massive crater site. Both were so amazing to see. The crater is 130m deep and only fluctuates half a degree all year around. The lower 70 metres is completely covered in water and supports some unique wildlife.

Hen Vs Stag Parties

If I had a dollar every time someone said to me women spectators must be so much worse than men in the stripping world, I'd be a very rich man. The truth is the opposite. It pains me to write this but its simple; there is a big double standard when it comes to male vs female strippers. While female strippers are still seen as taboo and wildy sexual, male strippers are more for a sense of risqué entertainment, and pure fun.

At a bucks or stag party, its pretty simple; the dirtier the better. Guys just want to see tits, ass and their best friend dominated by a sexy woman. I have met some amazing girls with big dreams while working in this industry, and I've got to say they are some of the bravest people I've met. Some of these girls have gone on to accomplish big things, and deserve respect. Yes they get paid a lot of money to do what they do, but you'd be surprised with what they have to put up with in return. The best of them just laugh to themselves, brush it off, and think about their future. Quite simply, its incredibly sexual.

Woman at a hens party on the other hand, now thats another story. Woman just want to laugh with their friends, and enjoy some light hearted entertainment, all while celebrating the hen. Yes the entertainment should be nice to look at with his shirt off, but at the end of the day, the group just want to giggle like crazy. A bad male stripper will take himself too seriously, grind up on the girls and shake his penis in their face. I haven’t met a group of girls yet who has asked me to do this. A good male stripper will take the piss out of himself as much as the situation, have a good combination of moves and cheekiness, and make the girls laugh. Yes the moves are sexual, but in a very different league to what most female strippers do. Also, the only ones who try to cop a feel are the ‘older’ girls attending the party. Before I can tell grandma to stop being so handsy, the rest of the girls at the hen party have already slapped her wrist and said ‘that’s not allowed nanna!’ Its simple, girls just want to have fun.

TOUR OFFICIALLY STARTS WITH AN AUSSIE TOUCH

So we are on the road, traveling around Australia on a mission to arm people with Melanoma Awareness and to put on a damn good show for all the hens parties out there. Big thanks to Alain and Hannah Grant in Hervey Bay for their hospitality last night. Alain, we solved a fair few of the worlds problems over a glass of red wine or two. After a shaky start we ventured down the back of his farm in search of a good spot to get my very first shot for the tour, and what better place to find one than on a their farm. Gum tree, rifle, Australian Flag and a man in nothing but his boots and hat.

TAKING IT OFF FOR MELANOMA AWARENESS

Melanoma skin cancer is the 4th most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia today. In 2018, it is estimated that 14,320 new cases of melanoma skin cancer will be diagnosed in Australia.

Approximately 2 in 3 Australians will be diagnosed with skin cancer by the time they are 70, with more than 750,000 people treated for one or more non-melanoma skin cancers in Australia each year. But when was the last time you had your skin checked?

My Story:

When my oldest friend in the world sat me down and told me 'don't freak out,' I freaked out. My friend and I are now 30 years old and both grew up on the Gold Coast. She had been putting off her skin check for months, and had finally been pushed by her boyfriend to visit a skin specialist. The news wasn't great, and she was scared. Preparing me for the worst, she had only one piece of advice: Get your skin checked and don't wait another day. 12 months down the track we are still lucky enough to have her in our lives. So far 10 for 10 melanomas have been cut out and tested positive, but she's still alive.

About 4 years ago, as a way to earn extra cash, I approached a local strip club in Queenstown, New Zealand where I was previously residing about the possibility of doing some topless waitering and learning the trade of male stripping. Since then I have started my own business (Late Night Gents) dedicated to entertaining girls for their bachelorette and hens parties. The male stripping industry shouldn't be taken too seriously. It should be hilarious, a little rique, and above all, FUN!

My Goal:

I, Aaron (Stripper name Van) plan to strip my way around Australia raising money for Melanoma Institute Australia. Every dollar earned will be donated. My goal is to arm as many people as I can with awareness. We as Australians know the capabilities and dangers of the sun, but can you remember the last time you had your skin checked? I certainly couldn't. The message is clear, GET CHECKED.

Aaron & Late Night Gents embarks on a tour around Australia with two messages.

Message 1: Your Ladies night should be fun and exciting. Late Night Gents will provide you with hilarious entertainment that you and your girlfriends will never stop giggling at!

Message 2: Get your skin checked regularly. What better way to get this message across by taking my own clothes off to encourage you to see your local skin specialist to take off yours!

Aaron is available for Interviews at any time.
